Comic Con (fest)
This is a bit of a late post for this week, but that is because I have spent the weekend in Phoenix at Phoenix Comic Fest.
Conventions are one of my favorite experiences. Yes, they can be crowded and busy and stressful, but it doesn't matter because it is all worth it. The feeling of being surrounded by other people who love something just as much as you do is the best. I feel truly at home among these people.
My favorite part of the con culture, though, is the acceptance. Whether it be of fandom, cosplay, or anything else. Everyone accepts what you like. You can see people truly express themselves in any way they want, and it will be loved and accepted by others.
I love seeing people who cosplay. People put so much effort into these amazing costumes, whether they are beautiful, scary or simple. Any person who has tried at all to become the character that they love, they inspire me.
For me, when I love a show or movie I also put a lot of focus into the actors who bring the character to life. Con gives fans the opportunity to meet these people who are behind the characters that we all love so much.
Over the years of attending con, I have gotten to meet so many amazing people; all of which are memories I hold so dear to my heart.
This year was one of the most amazing yet. I met some wonderful people, interacted with some amazing fans, and got to wear a princess dress all day.
This has been a shorter entry, but I am exhausted from con all weekend. Hope you enjoyed.
Word of the week: community
