Emergency Contact

Emergency Contact

I really need to stop leaving my blog post writing till Sunday night when I want to post on Sundays. That being said, here I am Sunday at 10 pm writing my weekly blog post. I would have done it earlier today but I was watching Black Panther... priorities.

Anyways, on to this week's post.

Last week, I read this book Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi and I really enjoyed it. Not only was it a great diverse read, it was a really touching story of human relationships in the form on a YA romance.
The concept of an "emergency contact" was really interestingly presented in this story. Sometimes the person you call in an emergency isn't who would expect, because sometimes the emergency is something different than you could  ever expect.
An emergency can be medical, emotional, traumatic or it can be a hair emergency or a I-got-a-bad-grade emergency. Emergencies comes in all forms, and all forms lead us to call on someone else for help when we need it most.

A couple months ago, @readbyzoe on Youtube posted a video about Emergency Comfort Reads and this video is in part what has inspired this post.

For my post this week, I thought I would do just that: share with you my Emergency Comfort reads (and other stuff).

Emergency Comfort Books:

  • Harry Potter by JK Rowling (I mean, obviously)
  • When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
  • Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
  • Twilight by Stephanie Meyer (My favorite is Breaking Dawn)
  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (I read this book my first semester of college, when I was overwhelmed with all the change coming at me form all side. And Cath's story once again calmed me down, at least a little)

Emergency Comfort Movies & TV:

  • Gilmore Girls
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Harry Potter (again)
  • Bridget Jones Diary (a classic)
  • Twilight (also again)
  • Disney movies (pretty much any of them, but Coco is a favorite right now)
  • New Girl

Emergency Comfort Youtubers:

Emergency Comfort Foods:

  • hot wings
  • dark chocolate
  • hot cheetos
  • Coffee (lots of it)

Emergency Comfort Music:
  • Broadway (mostly Wicked and Rent if the day has been real bad)
  • The Greatest Showman (This Is Me is the best anthem song ever)
  • Taylor Swift
  • Film Scores
  • Christmas music (does not matter what time of year)

Emergency Comfort People (IRL):
  • my mom
  • my dad
  • my sisters
  • my best friend
  • my friends from school
  • Shawn Mendes (working on the IRL part)
  • the friends that have been there for me since we were in the first grade

And those are my lists.
At least all that I could think of right now. There is always just a little more happiness to find, no matter how bad the day is. You can find comfort in anything.

Thank you for reading.
