A Million Dreams
A Million Dreams
A couple days ago I watched The Greatest Showman for probably the millionth time and still it fills my heart with such an inexplicable magic. This is a story of those who dream. And every person who watches it can be a part of that dream too.
Dreams drive to be our best selves and find what makes us happy.
July is another Camp NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and this dream is propelling me through. I have always loved to read because I love stories. There is an infinite amount of worlds and adventure to experience in the art of storytelling. I could go to far off planets or meet people like I've never seen or see magic come to life, all in the words of a book.
I want that. I want to be the weaver of this magic, so someone else out there can live in the magic of my world.
I haven't always wanted to be a writer, but I have always dreamed of far off places and writing is the closest I can get.
In April I finished my first draft of my current work in progress. This month I plan to start writing an outline to use as a guide in the, what I presume will a very long, editing process. I have started quite a few stories over the years, but this was the first one that I actually finished. And this is the first one that really feels like it could be something. These characters have actually come to life in my mind, they are no longer just ideas in my head. They took a piece of my heart and became their own beings. I am now only here to keep dreaming with them.
I don't know if I will ever have this book published, but I know that I will finish it. I need to finish this story. To give my characters their lives.
Still, I dream. Maybe one day someone will come to love the world and these characters as I have.
"'Cause every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my headA million dreams are keeping me awake"
Thank you for reading.
