A Moment of Nothing
For the past few weeks, I have been going pretty non stop. From class to class, study session to study session, gym to home, homework assignment to homework assignment. On and on and on.
And then this weekend, I actually found myself with some time to do nothing.
Sometimes I forget how important it is to do nothing.
To just take a walk, or lie in bed and read a book. Or watching reruns of a favorite show.
To just let your mind restart. To let yourself breathe again.
This blog post is a bit of a promise to myself, that I will find time for myself to relax. I don't always have to push myself so hard and so far. I can take a step back and breathe.
I think a lot us feel this pressure to always keep going and going and never stop, but it doesn't have to be like. In so many ways, I think the world expects it of us. We are expected to always be studying or working or doing something. But why should we? Why not take some time to ourselves and just be?
I know I don't always practice what I am preaching right now, but I always aim to. I want to. But sometimes this way of society gets to me, makes me feel like I should be doing more.
It doesn't matter if you are doing more or less, it just matters that you are doing what matters to you. Doing what makes you happy.
So take the day off.
Relax.
Watch a movie, read a book. Eat some ice cream.
Breathe.
And most importantly, remember. Remember that your happiness and mental health is more important than any deadline or goal.
Take care of yourself first.
Let yourself be first.
And let yourself love yourself.
xoxo
